Educating Nepal – Short film competition from KIMFF

Are you a film-maker under 30 that can aid discourse on the subject of education in Nepal? Join the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) competition with your short film on theme of ‘Educating Nepal’.

KIMFF Film Festival Short Movie Competition

The short film competition was announced on Sunday (23rd September) by Himal Association, Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) and Open Society Foundations amidst a press meet at the British Embassy in Kathmandu. Chairperson of KIMFF Basanta Thapa, director Ramyata Limbu and co-ordinator of the competition Sijan Thapa were present at the meet.

The film-competition invites young film makers to share their thought-provoking, innovative and original stories on “Education” in Nepal. The entries for the short-film should be sent by November 9 and the film should be only five minutes long. The entries can be documentaries, fiction, animation or experimental art forms.

Entries of the competition will be will be judged by a three-member jury who are related to the education sector and filmmaking. Top ten selected films will then be screened at the KIMFF taking place from December 7-11 where three winners will be selected. The first prize winner will get Rs 75,000, second and third winner will get Rs 50,000 and Rs 35,000 at the awards ceremony of the festival.
